2025 Nissan Murano Review: Why This Five-Passenger SUV Works for Families
Today, we’re taking a closer look at the redesigned 2025 Nissan Murano. This five-passenger SUV has finally gotten some much-needed updates both inside and out, and I’m excited to break it all down for you. If you’re shopping for a vehicle that’s bigger than a compact SUV but don’t want the bulk of a three-row, the 2025 Nissan Murano might be exactly what you’re looking for.
If you’re new here, welcome! I’m Kelly, The Car Mom. I’m a mom of four, a certified child passenger safety tech and I review cars with families in mind to help you figure out if they could work for you. Today, we’re diving into everything you need to know about the 2025 Nissan Murano.
2025 Nissan Murano Highlights
The new 2025 Nissan Murano feels like a fresh entry into the midsize SUV space, designed for families who need extra room without jumping up to a three-row vehicle. Pricing starts around $40,000 and tops out around $50,000 with the Platinum trim which is what I’m testing today. Here’s what to expect:
Three-across car seat potential
Sleek exterior redesign and improved interior
New automatic 9-speed transmission
So much storage! (room for all your family needs)

Driver Seat Experience & First Row Features
The 2025 Nissan Murano’s front row offers comfort and convenience. Nissan markets these as “zero-gravity seats”. I can’t say I felt weightless, but they are supportive and comfortable, especially for longer drives. The Platinum trim also offers heated, ventilated, and even massaging seats.
The redesigned dashboard feels fresh and user-friendly thanks to its:
13.2-inch infotainment display with intuitive menus
Heads-up display and fully digital gauge cluster
Surround-view camera with customizable angles
Ambient lighting with tons of colors to choose from
The storage is also unexpectedly impressive for a five-passenger SUV. It has deep side cubbies and a spacious center console. The panoramic sunroof and quilted, contrast-stitched leather seats are what make the Nissan Murano feel more upscale than before.
2025 Nissan Murano Family-Friendly Second Row
This is where the 2025 Nissan Murano really shines for families. The second row bench is spacious and provides plenty of clearance for rear-facing car seats and legroom for taller second row passengers.
I was pleasantly surprised at how three-across-friendly it is. With the right combination of slim car seats, you can make it work. For this setup, I installed a Peg Perego booster, a Graco SlimFit3 LX, and a Britax Poplar using seatbelts—and I still had good comfort and clearance.
Other family-friendly features include:
Rear sunshades (rare in five-passenger SUVs!)
Heated outboard seats (on Platinum trim)
Rear console air vents

2025 Nissan Murano Cargo Heaven: Room for Everything
The cargo area is a major win for the Nissan Murano. You get a huge amount of trunk space, much more than you’d find in most three-row SUVs with the third row in use. I especially love:
The side cubbies (perfect for storing a gallon of milk or small grocery bags),
Underfloor spare tire storage
The 60/40 split-folding rear seats that can drop down for added storage.
For families juggling strollers, sports gear, and grocery runs, the 2025 Nissan Murano truly delivers.
2025 Nissan Murano’s Exterior and Under The Hood
The 2025 Nissan Murano finally gets a modern, refreshed look:
Sharp, modern redesign that sheds the old, dated look (which I didn’t love before)
Front grille, cleaner lines, and updated badging give a higher-end vibe
Black strip flowing into the headlights adds a polished, upscale touch (I especially love this)
Another newsworthy update? The Nissan Murano no longer uses the controversial CVT transmission, which has been linked to a lot of reliability issues. Instead, it now comes with a 9-speed automatic, which I think was an excellent call.
Is the 2025 Nissan Murano Family Friendly?
Overall, I’m impressed with the 2025 Nissan Murano. Nissan finally gave this SUV the updates it needed—modern styling, a reliable transmission, upgraded tech, and family-focused features like three-across seating potential and great cargo space. For families who want more room than a compact SUV but don’t want (or need) a three-row, the Nissan Murano is a fantastic option.
