Today, we’ve got the first official truck to walk you through. The 2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum is one of the most popular trucks on the market and I’ve already taken it out through the cow pastures for a coffee run with our daughter. No matter if it’s an SUV or truck, the question still stands: is it a solid choice for families?

Without further introduction, let’s break down the 2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum.

2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum Exterior
I already took it in the cow pastures today with our daughter on our coffee run, so it’s got some dirt on it, but the exterior still looks great. Starting with the front end of the truck, I really like this grill and how nice and boxy it looks. The lights are also really cool and modern.
Moving to the side, I love the lines and contrast with the black around the wheel wells. Up top, we have more lines and a little bit of badging that just provides a nice flow overall. Coming to the back end, we still have a lot of that contrast, the Tundra badge, and power tailgate, which is never terrible in the bed. We have the Toyota track system, which is extremely convenient and there are a lot of different options you can snap in the back including a raised utility rack or simple tie downs.
The last thing I wanted to note is that I really like the height of the Tundra. I understand some people want really tall jacked up trucks, but don’t discount the convenience of reaching over to grab things. When you get into those higher setting trucks, it’s almost impossible to reach down and grab something without stepping on a tire, tailgate, or deck rail system.
2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum First Row
Looking in the first row, we have a leather wrapped steering wheel and some nice texture accents throughout. The shifter, which needs to be in every vehicle when the parking brake is on, once I put it in drive, it automatically comes off. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve gotten into vehicles where this does not exist, meaning I have to hit another button and it’s just annoying.
The Platinum trim level comes with heated and ventilated seats and I wanted to mention that throughout the Tundra, you get a lot of large buttons which is a huge plus.
Infotainment System
The infotainment system is great. You’ve got a nice digital dash, along with Heads Up Display, that works really well. I already mentioned all the nice large buttons, but they make all the features on the dash even easier to use.
One feature I wanted to point out specifically is the rear view mirror camera because when I put the Tundra in drive and select auto in the settings, it automatically turns on and allows me to see way easier. Overall, no complaints.
2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum Second Row
Let's get into the second row and break down the car seat setup of the 2024 Toyota Tundra. Like most truck car seat setups, the Tundra’s second row smacks. You can fit three of almost any combination without a problem.
What I like specifically about the Tundra is within each seat, there is an individual tether anchor available. If you know anything about installing forward-facing vehicles in trucks, it’s difficult. This usually involves routing one anchor to another, but this completely eliminates the problem. As far as lower anchors are concerned, you have them available on both the outboard seats. Looking at the clearance, we are cooking with gasoline. The clearance is incredible, even with Tyler’s seat set for him being 6’2.
Something else I wanted to mention is the Tundra is equipped with pre-tension seat belts. These are starting to pop up more and more, but in the event of a collision, the seat belt tightens making it less harmful. Every car has pre-tensioners in the first row, but very little include them in the second row. Since the IIHS has started implementing more second row seating, we will see this feature pop up more and more.
Little random to note, but the cabin air filters are on either side of the backseat bench and they pop off really easily. In my F-150, I need a screwdriver and a pocket knife to get them out. Half the time I cut myself doing it.
2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum: Wrap Up
Overall, the 2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum is a really impressive vehicle for both personal and family use. The exterior looks fantastic, but the interior also allows for endless car seat combinations. One of the best perks of this truck is how much car seat clearance is available, along with the LATCH tether options.
